Abuja court orders arrest of ’professor’ over forgery
An Upper Area Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja has ordered the police to produce a trustee of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. ‘Professor’ Paul Emeka before it to answer criminal charges preferred against him, bothering on forgery of University of Derby, UK, professorial degree.
The court equally ordered the police to bring before it the investigation report conducted by the police on the adjourned date of March 30.
The order signed by U.Y. Kagarko, judge of the Upper Area Court, followed a complaint by the Incorporated Board of Trustees of the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, which alleged that the suspect presented himself to the church, claiming to be a professor from the University of Derby and was subsequently made one of the trustees of the church in 2012.
The church however discovered after inquiries that the professorial certificate presented to it was false, based on documented statement from the University of Derby, they approached the police for investigation and subsequent investigation.
Documents available to The Abuja Inquirer show that the university in a letter to the petitioners signed by James Eaglesfield, had distanced itself from ‘Professor’ Emeka, noting that they have no record of such a person in its record.
Though Emeka has continued to deny bearing the title, a copy of the certificate of incorporation of the Assemblies of God Church with the CAC shows his name bearing the title of ‘Prof.
