How we saved farmers market from ’total ruin’ - FEMA

The FCT Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, has disclosed that but for its rapid response, the farmers market in Maitama district would have burnt completely.
Director General of FEMA, Alhaji Abbas Idriss, stressed the importance of distress calls in cases of emergency.
The DG said that the 112 three digit toll free emergency number is aimed at reducing response time, save lives and loss of property.
Speaking on FEMA's response time, the Director General maintained that  response time still remain 5 minutes, just as he tasked residents to evaluate the services of the agency.
According to the DG, "the distress call was timely and the nearest fire station was mobilized to the scene. If not for the rapid response, the whole market would have gone up in flames. But luckily, only one shop was affected. The fire was extinguished before it could engulf the whole market."
