Adams Oshiomhole, thy cup runs full?
The comrade-governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, is a man of interesting parts and colours.
He is like the chameleon; situations define his character and morality. At least that is what the labour movement in Nigeria and governorship aspirants of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, are accusing him of.
The telling aspect of the debacle in which Oshiomhole has found himself in is that the accusations are coming from members of his own constituency.
The comrade-governor, a product of the labour movement, is now a member of the ruling bourgeoisie so much so that having learnt the tricks of how organized labour operates, he has now turned round to use the very tricks and modu operandi to deal a decisive blow on the collective solidarity of the Nigeria Labour Congress in particular.
It was therefore not surprising when once fellow comrades poured invectives and avowals against Oshiomhole in the face of the wrong-headed decision by the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari to remove subsidy on petrol.
In a similar bent, governorship aspirants of his APC in Edo where he sits over as Lord and Master, have sought for his expulsion from the party.
Osho Baba as his supporter call him has made no qualms about who he wants to succeed him.
To that end, he is bending the rules, upending it and making a mockery of the very norms he campaigned for to become governor.
Is it not said that for most men power defines their true nature? Indeed, like Ochereome Nnanna rightly diagnosed this is not the first time Oshiomhole will sell the birthright of those who look up to him for a mash of pottage.
Nnanna noted: "Oshio baba broke ranks with his party in 2012 and worked for Jonathan along with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Diezani and Sanusi. He is a talented trader and opportunist."
