Bello blasts officials of Bwari vocational center
Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Bello, has described officials placed with the responsibility of the FCT Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Kuchiko-Bwari, as indolent.
He described the officials when he paid a surprise visit to assess the true situation of the centre in company of the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye.
Bello fumed over the poor state of the centre, which he said does not require a lot of money to maintain but has been allowed to degenerate because some officials are not willing to do their work.
He lamented that the laudable objective of the government has been eroded by lackadaisical attitude of the officials overseeing the centre and that the current FCT administration would do everything possible to bring all vocational centres in the territory back to life.
His words: “This is a place where people found wandering on the streets, squatting under bridges or those afflicted with drug addiction are given a second chance to be rehabilitated and repatriated to their various homes to contribute to their quota to the society.”
Speaking to journalists after the visit, the principal of the centre, Comrade Bala Musa, said that 201 persons who completed their training are awaiting graduation since 2013 due to lack of funds because the government needs to give them ‘starter pack’ and N100,000 each to set up their businesses.
