APC picks candidates for council poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has picked its candidates for next year’s election into the area councils in the FCT.

The election which was delayed owing to the dissatisfaction of some aspirants about their disqualifications was held amidst tight security in each of the councils.

In Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido defeated his closest rival, Hon Ishiaku Yamawo by 134 votes against 104.

Other candidates that won their primaries were Hon. Abdulrahman Ajiya for Abaji Area council, Hon. Musa Dikko, Bwari council, Abubakar Jibrin Giri for Gwagwalada area council. Kuje area council saw Hon. Abdullahi Galadima emerging and Hon. Joseph Shazin for Kwali area council

Speaking to our correspondent shortly after the primaries, the APC's public relations officer in the FCT, Engr. Adaji Usman, commended the aspirants for their spirit of sportsmanship during and after the primaries and expressed the belief that the party will win all the six area councils as the masses, he claimed, are tired of the Peoples Democratic Party
