WAEC withholds 28,768 GCE results

As the West African Examination Council, WAEC, releases results of the November/December 2015 General Certificate Examination, GCE, results of 28,768 candidates, representing 12.13 per cent are being withheld for further investigation.

Head of WAEC National Office in Nigeria, Mr. Isaac Adenipekun, who disclosed this while announcing the results, said the results of 1,612 others are still being processed following registration errors made by the candidates.

Adenipekun disclosed that the 28,768 were withheld on proven cases of examination malpractice, while assuring that the errors found in the 1,612 results are being corrected by WAEC to enable the affected candidates have their results.

He however announced the results of 235,542 out of the 237,154 candidates who sat for the examination, adding that 79,490 candidates, representing 33.51 per cent of candidates obtained 6 credits and above.

According to him, A total of 146,253 candidates representing 61.67 per cent obtained a credit and above in four subjects, while 175,718 candidates representing 74.09 per cent got credits and above in three subjects.

He also noted that 113,573 candidates, representing 47.88 per cent obtained 5 credits, but however declined to give statistics on the specific subjects such as English language and Mathematics.

In his words” In addition, 146,253 candidates, representing 61.67 per cent obtained credits and above in four subjects, while 175,718 candidates, representing 74.09 per cent obtained credits and above in three subjects; a total of 200,304 candidates representing 84.46 per cent obtained credits and above in 2 subjects.” ‎
