DRTS cautions motorists against road signs violations

The Area Commander of Directorate of Road Traffic Services, DRTS, popularly known as VIO in-charge of Apo/Gudu district, Mr. Obiora Okonkwo, has tasked the motoring public to acquire a copy of the Highway Code, even as he warned them against violations of road signs in the FCT.

He disclosed this to The Abuja Inquirer last Thursday, noting that the directorate would continue to put on strong measures to impound rickety vehicles plying the road with a view to enhancing good driving culture.

The DRTS officer warned that about 90 percent of accidents occur as a result of negative driving culture of motorists and implored them to ensure that their vehicles is in good condition before using them on the road.

He reiterated the commitment of the directorate to punish offenders who violate traffic rules and regulations, just as he pointed out that the leadership of DRTS is making concerted efforts to improve relationship between VIO officers and motorists.

The Area Commander equally enjoined the motoring public, especially commercial drivers and Okada riders, to cultivate the habit of visiting DRTS license capturing centre for renewal of their vehicle particulars.
