Ehanire commissions isolation unit at FMC Keffi
Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, has commissioned an Isolation Unit, Electronic Personnel Record, EPR, and a new administrative block at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, last week, Ehanire noted that the projects initiated and executed by the Centre would remain indelible in the annals of Nigeria’s healthcare delivery.
“I am delighted to be here again to commission new administrative complex, Isolation Unit anand Electronic Personnel Record initiated and executed by the management of this Centre.
“I am more often in FMC Keffi not because it is near to Abuja but because there are good things to show in order to ensure effective healthcare service delivery which have direct bearing on the lives of the patients and other Nigerians", he said.
He added that the Federal Ministry of Health would do its’ very best to continue to assist the centre to achieve more giant strides.
According to him, “The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is doing its best and wants to upgrade health facilities across the country despite paucity of fund.
‘’In achieving this objective, there is need to work together, all hands must be on deck in driving the health sector in Nigeria."
Ehanire emphasized the need for good maintenance of the hospital facilities and their environment to encourage patients, adding that it was not enough to have qualified health professionals.
The minister pointed out that the Isolation Unit would boost healthcare delivery service at the centre and this development should assure patients and the public of safety from outbreaks of diseases like Lassa fever.
‘’It is hoped that from now on, any suspected case of disease that carries the danger of spreading to other persons would be safely isolated accordingly, for proper care as standard operating procedures have been designed to fish out such patients at the entry points of the hospital’’, he revealed.
He commended Dr. Joshua Giyan, the Medical Director of the Centre and the Management Staff for keying into projects that had direct bearing on the lives of the staff and patients at large.
Earlier, in his remarks, the Chairman, Governing Board of FMC Keffi, Prince Sule – Iko Sami, pledged the commitment of the members to work assiduously towards achieving its mandate, just as he expressed the need for team work with the top management of the Centre for the benefit of all.
