UniAbuja to set up endowment fund for students

Authorities of the University of Abuja have expressed the desire to establish an endowment fund for students of the Faculty of Social Science to reward outstanding students and promote academic excellence.

Dean of the faculty, Prof Rhoda Mundi, stated this in a chat with The Abuja Inquirer during the faculty’s orientation lecture and award ceremony held at the Indoor Theater of its mini-campus in Gwagwalada.

Mundi, who stated that the orientation was organized to sensitise the newly admitted students on the rules and regulations of the institution, said the programme provided necessary tips to the students on how to conduct themselves and avoid acts capable of tarnishing their image or leading to their expulsion from the university.

She called on fresh students to be law-abiding citizens at all times and relate well with their lecturers and colleagues.

Contributing, a guest lecturer, Ugwuanyi Julius tasked the students on shunning examination malpractices, cultism, indecent dressing and drug abuse.

Ugwanyi implored them to attend lectures promptly and shun associating with bad eggs.
