DRTS to end fake documentation of vehicle particulars

The FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services, DRTS, has put in place measures to bring to an end of fake documentation and registration of vehicle particulars.

The director, DRTS, Engr. Aliyu Bidinga, who disclosed this to The Abuja Inquirer, reiterated the commitment of the directorate to safeguard its database and equipment with a view to preventing hackers from getting into their system.

Bodinga said that DRTS under his watch has tackled the menace of fake vehicle registration just as he implored the motoring public to always visit DRTS offices to renew their particulars to avoid falling into the hands of impersonators.

He emphasised that the directorate would continue to use Abuja auto-inspectors to authenticate the validity of number plates, even as he educated motorists on the need to be aware that vehicle registration is a state matter and that Abuja number could not be obtained outside the FCT and vice versa.

He said “Our database is secure and it is difficult for somebody else to fake our document such as vehicle licence. Impersonators may try to fake other licenses from other places but once they arrive FCT we will detect it.”
