2019: Vote wisely, Maina enjoins FCT residents

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a senatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Isa Maina, has tasked residents of Abuja to vote wisely for inclusive representation.

Maina, who is also the incumbent Mandate Secretary of Education Secretariat, made the appeal when he submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the only senatorial seat in the Federal Capital Territory.

Maina called on residents of the territory to vote for a competent and credible candidate in the forthcoming general elections.

He maintained that the National Assembly needs somebody with a pedigree, who has the capacity, education, competence, exposure and knows the politics and happenings in the senate, and not pushovers.

The senatorial aspirant noted that although the FCT has one senatorial seat, residents have not felt the impact of proper representation at the senate, adding that many communities in the territory have no potable water, no development and no access roads.

Maina lamented that the bill for the establishment of the proposed Abuja University of Science and Technology, Abaji, AUTA, has been pending at the National Assembly for many years, due to incompetent representation at the red chamber.

He frowned at some National Assembly members who have converted funds meant for their constituency projects in their communities into buying motorcycles for campaigns during elections.

The aspirant urged residents not to waste their votes on such candidates, adding that he is seeking re-election into the senate to enable him touch the lives of youths and women in the territory, who have made him what he is today.
