Union organizes capacity building for nurses in FCT

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM FCT chapter, has organised a two-day capacity building training for its newly elected unit officials across health centres in the FCT.

Speaking to The Abuja Inquirer at the opening ceremony, FCT NANNM chairman, Comrade Deborah Yusuf, said the essence of the induction course was to equip the executives with skills and techniques to conduct the affairs of the union devoid of confrontation with hospitals management.

She reiterated commitment to promote the welfare of members as well as priority would be given to the training and re-training of nurses aimed at boosting their morale to perform their duty efficiently.

The chairman called on nurses to embrace team work with other health professionals, noting that the act would in no small measure bring industrial harmony among health practitioners.

The FCT NANNM boss applauded the secretary health and human services secretariat, Malam Adamu Bappa, for the payment of 56 months outstanding arrears, even as she appealed to the FCT minister to engage more nurses to augment manpower shortage.
