Firm commissions ultra-modern market in Bwari

Two years after, the newly completed remodeled Maitama ultra-modern market located in Kubwa, Abuja, was commissioned last week. 

Engr Rabiu Sa’id, the Director, H & I Const. Ltd., the firm that handled the remodeling of the market, said from an initial number of 300 makeshift stalls inherited, the market has been upgraded to 1,467 shops, warehouses and cold rooms of various sizes. 

Facilities in the new market, he said, include large parking space, police station, bank, and 50 toilets located at strategic locations within the market. 

He said H & I is a subsidiary of M n Ataj Construction Ltd. that is currently undertaking several projects across Nigeria, and said very soon the company will, in conjunction with Bwari Area Council, commence the Mpape village market. 

“We will also commission the 1st phase of the modernization of Utako market in FCT in about two weeks from now, while on the same day will perform the ground breaking ceremony of the modernization of the Utako/Jabi Motor Park, Abuja.

“The 2nd phase of Garki market modernization will also be done in conjunction with Abuja Market Management Limited before the second quarter of this year,” he said. 

He said the company built and commissioned a new palace for the district head of the Kubwa community while work has commenced on the construction of a new town hall for the community.” 

The chairman, Bwari area council, Hon. Musa Dikko, in his own remarks, said the idea of building the market was conceived by the Isa Bwari administration ten years ago and commended his effort as well as that H &I Construction Ltd for delivering the project in two years instead of the 10 year earlier planned.
