IYC tasks Bayelsa youth on reading culture

Youth in Bayelsa State have been enjoined to invest their time and energy in personal development through acquiring and reading books rather than in acts of violence.

President of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Udengs Eradiri, gave the charge when members of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA Bayelsa state chapter, presented books to the electronic library of the IYC in Yenegoa.

Eradiri said youths of the state should avail themselves of this rare opportunity of an online library to educate and equip themselves to be able to compete with their peers internationally.

He commended the association for its meaningful contribution to the development of education in the state, calling on other well-meaning associations and Bayelsans to emulate the laudable gesture.

President of the ANA, Michael Afienfa, expressed his appreciation to the IYC for taking the struggle beyond violence by setting up a library as a first attempt to encourage the reading culture of the youths.
