Now, Dokpesi eats humble pie
Indeed, life is about times and seasons. Only a few months back, African Independent Television, AIT, was running a scathing documentary against former Governor Bola Ahmad Tinubu, the Lion of Bourdilion, the Jagban.
The documentary aptly titled: The Lion of Bourdilion, encapsulated the rise and rise of Tinubu; give deadly insights into some ‘shady’ aspects of the national leader of the APC.
As the documentary ran, the AIT and High Chief Raymond Dokpesi smiled to the banks and had Nigerians glued every evening to their TV sets to get ‘first-hand information’ on a man that has come to pervade Nigeria’s national life like no other.
Fast forward to 2016, the trajectory of power had shifted; the pendulum swung against Dokpesi as the PDP lost power and things were no longer the same.
Faced with a costly lengthy legal battle and missing out on some patronage, AIT and Dokpesi, which hitherto had justified their airing the documentary against professional caution, now have admitted that they erred.
In an out of court settlement, AIT is to air an apology every day for the next three months! What a way to eat pie in a humble way.
