Police arrest two over gay marriage in Jiwa

Two suspected gays were penultimate Saturday, February 6, 2016, arrested by the police in Jiwa, a suburb of Abuja, as they were about consummating their union at King’s Land Hotel hosted.

The Abuja Inquirer learnt that selected guests were waiting for the ‘couple’ walk in the decorated hall at about5.30pm when the police swooped on them.

According to an eyewitness, “the gay couple came down from the car, walked into the hall when policemen from the Gwagwa Police station stormed the hall and arrested them.

“It was confusion all over the place as people were trying to jump through the windows and any available exit.”

The suspects who live in Jiwa Community are said to be indigenes of Kaduna State. Besides arresting the ‘couple,’ the police also arrested their sponsors, chairman of the occasion and the owner of the hotel.

The gay couple’s names were given as Abdul Lawal, who is supposed to be the husband, while Umar Tahir posed as the wife.

The sponsors of the marriage according to our findings are Abubakar Tahir and Mohammed Sani.
