Only genuine manufactures will get land – Bello
Federal Capital Territory Administration has stated that allocation of land in the Abuja industrial zones will be for only genuine manufacturers that have the capacity to develop it for the purpose the plots are earmarked for within a time frame.
FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, who made this disclosure while receiving a delegation of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, led by its president, Dr. Frank Jacobs in his office, also maintained that his administration would support manufacturers as their activities would go a long way in creating employment for the unemployed in the territory.
Bello appealed to MAN to help woo investors to Abuja, assuring that his administration will make Abuja friendly for the manufacturers.
According to him, “we need industries to lubricate our economy and to also help generate employment for the citizenry.”
He promised to strengthen a department in the FCT Administration to serve as a focal point with the manufacturers association to create the desirable synergy.
Bello called for calm over the vexed issue of multiple taxations by various government agencies in the FCT, explaining that though it’s a national problem, his administration would address the issue.
Speaking earlier, the MAN president, Dr. Frank Jacobs, complained of multiply taxation and called for harmonization of taxes in the territory.
Jacobs appealed to the minister to provide infrastructure to the Idu Industrial zone to attract more manufacturing activities.
