Nestle marks social media week

In order to boost innovation, share ideas and insights on how social media technology is changing business, society, culture worldwide, a brand of Nestle products, Nescafé, has marked the social media week in Lagos. 

In a statement made available to The Abuja Inquirer in Lagos and signed by Dr. Sam Adenekan, Head of Corporate Communications, Nestlé Nigeria Plc, said that the fourth West African edition of the annual international conference with the theme: 'The Networked Africa: Technology's Impact on Africa (and How We Can Harness it for Good' is to bring together global brands, agencies, publishers, start-ups and platform companies. 

According to him, "this is geared towards promoting engagement through creative idea and strategy, experimental design, original content, product and brand integration, campaign launches, video production and community management from across the continent. 

"As it focuses on social media week, Nescafé partnership with the brand led a session on 'Harnessing Digital Innovation for Social Good: The Nescafé get started Initiative'." 

The statement further read that the session will focus on the brand's regional scheme aims to inspire young African entrepreneurs to generate innovative ideas to create value for society. 

It also states that in 2015, more than 1,900 young people shared their dreams to make a difference in Africa before the 2015 Get Started Winner was chosen to receive financial and mentoring support from Nescafé to help fulfil their project. 

Nescafé is the top performing brand of social media with more than 35 million fans worldwide and will also showcase its latest innovative approaches in technology. 

The brand recently teamed up with facebook to launch an immersive video that pioneered a new technology release for the platform.
