Youth beat up Bala’s ex-adviser, Wowo, at campaign

Angry youth in Kuje area council manhandled the former political adviser to the immediate past FCT Minister, Alhaji Jubril Wowo, who defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, shortly after the last presidential elections.

Our correspondent learnt that the ugly incident took place last week at the Gomo's palace during the ongoing campaign by the APC ahead of FCT area council elections slated for March 19, 2016.

A source confided in our correspondent that the angry youth hinged their anger on the fact that Wowo's political 'prostitution' is becoming unbearable for residents of Kuje area council particularly the youth, even as they accused him of using his political weight to benefit members of his immediate family.

It was also learnt that Wowo narrowly escaped death as the youth were prepared to lynch him to death, but for the timely intervention of security aides attached to the FCT minister, Muhammad Bello, who saved the situation.

Wowo, who was the longest serving chairman of Kuje area council under the platform of All Peoples Party, APP, and elected Senator representing the FCT in 2007, decamped to the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2011.

In recognition of his political prowess, he was rewarded with a juicy political appointment as Senior Special Adviser to the immediate past FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed on Politics and National Assembly Matters.

During the period of 2015 general elections, Wowo indicated interest for the only senatorial seat in the territory under the platform of PDP but lost out to the incumbent Senator Philip Aduda.

He was later appointed as Director of Operations in Goodluck Jonathan's Campaign Organisation. A position he held till the PDP was ousted from power at the center.
