Jiba appeals to NULGE to call off strike

The chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Hon. Micah Jiba, has appealed to the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NLUGE, to call-off its industrial strike.

Jiba made the call in Abuja while meeting with journalists in Abuja, saying that the chairmen of the six area councils and the FCT administration are working hard to ensure that the three months salaries being owed to the council workers are cleared.

Jiba, who is also the National President ALGON, appealed to the NULGE to be patient with government of the FCTA and council chairman and go back to work, adding that the situation of the three months salaries is beyond the control and powers of the chairmen.

While sympathizing with the workers at the area council level and promised to lobby with the National Assembly to ensure that the issue surrounding the virement is quickly settled and the bailout fund released from the FCT administration will fully be implemented.
